Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Connie Talbot unveiled her highly anticipated project, Growing Pains, a stunning 4-track project narrating the young artist’s journey through the ebbs and flows of love, loss, and learning about herself. Much like a camera’s lens capturing fleeting moments, this self-penned project immortalises the diverse spectrum of emotions that constitute the deeply personal voyage of navigating heartbreak and discovering restoration.

Talbot’s innate melodic instincts seamlessly fuse with the project’s production, characterised by its inclusion of raw, organic sonic components that mirror the bare realities of love’s dissolution. This creation effortlessly balances authenticity and refinement, emerging as the ultimate melodic companion for those undergoing their own heartrending expedition.

On the inspiration behind the project, Connie Talbot explains: “Writing and creating my EP Growing Pains has been a journey that has been so good for my soul. I really wanted to create something from scratch independently. Working with some incredible writers has been a dream. Emily, Ant, Alfie, Cameron have quite literally been my therapists. Putting thoughts into lyrics and into songs has been a form of therapy that I can revisit whenever I want. I have always loved that music can make you feel something and for me music has always been a constant in my life that I can rely on. If one of these songs can help someone, I will be happy. The overall message that I would love people to take from this EP is that it’s okay to learn lessons from experience, it’s okay to feel those emotions intensely, lean into them and grow from them. That’s why we call them growing pains.”

Growing Pains EP is composed of the title track Growing Pains an introspective track that explores the enduring challenges of maturation, emphasising its perpetual nature; and then there’s “Easier Pretending You’re Dead”, a soulfully poignant anthem that signifies the conscious choice to transcend a former romantic entanglement by mentally relegating it to the past tense of existence. Adding to the ensemble, “Broken Heart” resonates as an emotionally charged tune, candidly acknowledging the raw ache of heartbreak while simultaneously recognizing its transient nature. This track serves as a poignant reminder that even the deepest wounds ultimately heal over time. Finally, the EP culminates with the elegantly haunting strains of “Roses” a fitting closing track that harmoniously binds the entirety of the project together.

Born and raised in a small area just outside of Birmingham, Connie Talbot understood from a young age that music is supposed to make you feel something. She did just that in 2007 when the then 6-year-old Connie took the world by storm with her cover of “Over the Rainbow” on Britain’s Got Talent. Now, almost two decades later, at 22 years old, she is ready to show everyone the artist she has become in recent years. Connie was 6 when she released her debut album, Over the Rainbow. The project flew to gold status in the UK and incredibly platinum in south east Asia, making her the youngest artist in history to ever achieve such success. Connie also toured Asia, performed at the G20 summit, as well as touring America.

The years since have allowed Connie to hone in on her craft as a songwriter, musician and develop her own voice.
