YIIGAA RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘JUST FOR ME’ PRODUCED BY KAREN NYAME KG

Yiigaa has released her brand new single Just For Me, co-produced by KG and J.Ar.J. The track is the first release for Yiigaa this year, and showcases her distinctive vocals and ever-evolving experimentation in songwriting.

Just For Me is a step in a new direction, adopting KG’s signature percussion and low end bass moments, while staying true to Yiigaa’s soul and electronic roots. The anthemic track swells throughout, leaving you with a euphoric, visceral feeling, not least because of the subject matter – the early moments of a relationship that can often bring up uncertainty before you jump in.

Speaking about the meaning behind the track Yiigaa says;
This song is about all the emotions that come with opening up and letting someone in after being closed off. An early infatuation before you even know a person can be a feeling filled with fear that often as people we sometimes push away. Embracing the feeling of risk and the unknown and jumping in can be terrifying, but there is a beauty in the beginning, a ‘what if’ moment. That is what I wanted to encapsulate, the beauty of ‘where will this go?’ and the emotions that come with opening up and letting someone in after being closed or for a long time”.

Born & Raised in South West London’s Brixton, with roots in Côte d’Ivoire, music has been a part of Yiigaa’s life since the age of seven when she had already written her own song lyrics. She references Ms Dynamite, Niniola, Katy B and Nelly Furtardo as influences. Besides her music career, she is also a part of the National Young Theatre.

Yiigaa has been championed by BBC Radio 1’s Jeremiah Asiamah (Coldest Records, Coldest of the Year, Watchlist 2022), Rickie, Melvin and Charlie, Jack Saunders (Next Wave), Jess Iszatt (featured artist) and more, as well as securing a plays on Love Island ‘23 and ‘21. She has garnered support from award-winning DJ and producer, Conducta who remixed her single Closer, naming it as one of his favourite tracks of the year. The 2-step banger was widely shared by the likes of DJ Mag, GRM Daily and Trench Magazine.
