spill tab releases her new EP KLEPTO out now on Arista Records and completed by brand new single and video ‘fetišh’ which premiered with Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1. The new EP brings together key singles released by the artist and producer across a packed out year, which has included an extensive US tour as main support for Sabrina Carpenter, and collaborations with peers including on Mac Wetha’s track ‘Play Pretend’ and Matilda Mann on their BBC Radio 1 playlisted single ‘Borderline Insane.’

EP cuts include ‘CRÈME BRÛLÉE!,’ where spill tab’s idiosyncratic, chaotic alt-pop genius takes centre stage, and most recent single ‘Window,’ a textural indie rock burner which emphasises her multiplicity as a songwriter and producer. spill tab also confirms a run of UK & EU live dates which will see her return to our shores this September for a headline show at London’s Camden Assembly.

The tracks on KLEPTO straddle a time period of almost two years, and spill tab explains that within each track, she personifies character traits that she felt were inaccessible to her at the time of creation. This is exemplified across ‘fetišh’, which delivers the collection in formidable, high-octane fashion; “I think fetišh is a great intro into the tiny world of this EP. This song is so unapologetic and confident and it’s these things that I feel like I’m most often not, but I want to be. It’s this sort of make believe conversation with someone that’s being delivered in a very dom, assertive way that I fantasise I could one day authentically pull off. In reality it’s a terrifying thing to ask of someone to welcome every part of you, but this song is sort of a brave fantasy of not caring about how I’m received by someone whose perspective I care a lot about.”

The moniker of Claire – spill tab is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who launched her musical career with her distinctive brand of bedroom-pop – meshing disparate feelings, sounds, tones, and textures and lyrics in both English and French. With KLEPTO, spill tab furthers her status as one of alt-pop’s most innovative and fearless new names. Elaborating further on its creation and unifying hallmarks, she reflects; “The songs on the EP span across almost 2 years – I feel like I’ve grown more comfortable in my skin and a lot as a producer during this time too, which is also a testament to the support and help of my friends and collaborators. I made a lot of these songs during a time in my life where so much was changing, and with a lot of good evolution also came self doubt, imposter syndrome and loneliness. The lyrics talk about fantasies and hidden feelings and private thoughts. I’ve found that channelling this inner dialogue through alter egos in my music makes them more accessible to me in real life. In these sorts of songs I write up versions of myself I wish I could be, it might be my attempt at writing myself into something new.”

spill tab broke through with the release of her previous EP Bonnie, which was led by effusive lead single ‘PISTOLWHIP’ and featured a cast including Tommy Genesis (‘Indecisive’), JAWNY (‘Grade A’) and Gus Dapperton (‘Velcro’). This was indicative of the instant draw her music has drawn from contemporaries and beyond – culminating in a number of other co- signs including from Metronomy, who invited her to feature and co-produce their track ‘Uneasy’. As well as US tours with Gus Dapperton and JAWNY, plus a tour downunder supporting Wallows, spill tab has played headline shows in London, Paris and Sydney and made big impression at The Great Escape and SXSW. Having amassed millions of streams and appearing on the cover for Spotify’s beloved Lorem playlist twice, she’s had further acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Paper, Pigeons & Planes, The FADER, NME, Hypebeast and was asked to perform in session for Saint Laurent, see here.
