KITO SHARES NEW TRACK ‘STICKY’ FEATURING LOLO ZOUAÏ

Australian-born, LA-based DJ and producer Kito has dropped ‘Sticky’ – a collaboration featuring vocals from singer-songwriter Lolo Zouaï. A unique blend of y2k-pop and drum ‘n’ bass, ‘Sticky’ sees Kito go back to her club origins having been a touring DJ on the London dance circuit during the early stages of her career. Bridging the gap between dnb and the bittersweet electronic-pop she’s known for now, ‘Sticky’ is an empowering, personality-fuelled track driven by the female energy of two kindred artists experimenting with their sound.

Speaking on the track, Kito explains: “Lolo and I got in the studio and immediately bonded over being in such similar places creatively. We’re both such DIY girls – writing, producing, editing our own music and art and we wanted to make a song that captured the synergy of the vibe we’re both on right now – independent and creatively free. Lolo suggested making drum & bass which got me excited – I started out as a dnb DJ, and coming at it from a pop angle was so fun.”

Lolo added: “Kito and I had been wanting to make a song together for a long time and it finally aligned. I’m so happy with how it all came together. We definitely spilled the orange juice!”

Sticky’ follows Kito’s recent icy collaboration with Grimes called ‘Cold Touch, which was made using her AI vocal generator platform, Elf.Tech. Described as a “masterpiece” by Grimes herself, Kito embraced the burgeoning AI phenomenon within the music industry and launched the track as the first official release on Grimes AI’s artist profile. Released to critical acclaim last month, the track was supported by the likes of The Face, NME, The New York Times, LA Times, HUNGER, Dazed, Billboard, Mixmag, Rolling Stone UK, CRACK, among many others.

Kito’s lifelong dedication to music began as a teenager, when her older siblings opened her up to a world of electronic music via artists such as Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow and Bjork. At the age of 19, Kito entered a local DJ comp and came first place – winning her a copy of Serato, which she sold in order to buy more records. As a producer Kito has created a distinct sound; drawing inspiration from her years immersed in London’s vibrant dance-music scene. Her early discography includes releases on pioneering labels such as Skream’s ‘Disfigured Dubz’, Diplo’s ‘Mad Decent’ (as part of the duo Kito & Reija Lee), and with Feadz on the legendary French label ‘Ed Banger’. Since moving to Los Angeles, Kito has solidified her reputation as a versatile and innovative producer through her collaboration with artists such as Banks, Empress Of, Jeremih, Zhu, Channel Tres, Hudson Mohawke, Jorja Smith and Fletcher; with whom she earned her first Gold record with for “Bitter” which has amassed over 200 global streams combined.

Lolo Zouaï is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer from San Francisco, CA. Born in Paris to a French mother and Algerian father, Lolo emigrated from France to California when she was just 3 months old after her parents won the Visa lottery. After high school, Lolo moved to NYC with her mom and built a makeshift bedroom studio to produce, write, and record demos while working at restaurants around the city. Lolo hit her stride in 2017 once she self-released her debut single ‘High Highs to Low Lows’, which found a huge audience online across the world. She carried this momentum through 2019 with more independent singles, ultimately leading to the release of her critically acclaimed debut album named after the single, ‘High Highs to Low Lows’.

You can hear Lolo’s evolution on her 2022 sophomore album, ‘PLAYGIRL‘. The album confidently unfurls her story in vulnerable, digital, futuristic-yet-retrospective, and true-to-life interconnected pieces, with Lolo as its emotional backbone and lyrical undercurrent. Since her debut, Lolo has amassed over 350M streams, has sold out shows across 14 countries, opened for Dua Lipa on 30 shows of the Future Nostalgia Arena Tour, and recently completed her own 40+ date PLAYGIRL World Tour.
