THE COPE UNVEIL TRANSFORMATIVE ALBUM ‘DANCER’

“Dublin electronic duo making the world their own..” – CLASH

“aims to illuminate the connection of human emotion to creative outputs”– MIXMAG

The sensational duo, The Cope, composed of the dynamic talents of David Anthony Curley and Joe Furlong, is thrilled to announce the release of their hotly anticipated new album, DANCER. This 12-track masterpiece, conceived amidst the unique challenges posed by the 2021 lockdowns, stands as a powerful testament to the transformative capacity of music in fostering connections through the universal language of dance.

The genesis of DANCER traces back to the isolating lockdown period, when global communities yearned for physical connection, and dance floors lay dormant. Sensing an opportune moment, the duo embarked on a creative journey to craft a musical opus that encapsulates the collective longing for communal celebration. Their aim was to provide the quintessential soundtrack for the eagerly awaited resurgence of nightlife, beckoning the return to vibrant club scenes and festival arenas.

“We had two goals in mind. Firstly, we wanted to create music that we ourselves would want to hear when people could finally return to the dance floor. Secondly, we wanted to craft the kind of music that compels people to dance, creating an immersive experience that captures the diverse moods of a night out.”

In the summer of 2023, The Cope electrified live audiences with performances of DANCER at various festivals, marking their triumphant return to the stage after an extended hiatus. The gratification derived from observing new audiences respond positively to their music has been a profound experience for the duo. “Our sole aim is to incite movement in people. Seeing those crowds lose themselves in our performance is the ultimate validation that we’ve achieved our artistic objectives. There’s no greater fulfilment than that.”

Venturing beyond the realm of music, The Cope collaborated with writer/director Jamie Delaney to produce a visually striking short film set against the picturesque backdrop of Donegal, Ireland. Addressing universal challenges encountered by the youth, the film premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, earning acclaim and garnering nominations at festivals spanning Ireland, the UK, Europe, and the US. Transforming the short film into a dance-infused visual masterpiece for their track “True Romance,” filmed in Antwerp, Belgium, underscored the timeless relevance of the narrative. The creative team’s adaptability shone through in the dance film “Oíche / Back on My Bullshit,” securing the title of Best Dance Film at the Cannes World Film Festival.

DANCER  follows The Cope’s previous release, “Find Another Way,” and “Back on My Bullshit,” which received accolades from media tastemakers globally, including CLASH MAGAZINE, MIXMAG, KALTBLUT MAGAZINE, and more. The duo’s illustrious discography boasts an impressive array of tracks, including “True Romance,” “I Am Stretched On Your Grave,” and “End Time.” A stunning LP, DANCER, expands The Cope’s sonic vision in blissed-out style, adding to their quickly growing discography of crowd-pleasing hits
