SLOW MOTION SHARES HOTLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM WEAPONS OF PEACE

The Brazilian DJ expands on his distinctive deep house sound

After a string of successful singles, Brazilian DJ Slow Motion unveils his hotly-tipped debut album Weapons of Peace, out now on his own label Ref City Records via Empire Dance.

Across 13 tracks on Weapons of Peace, Slow Motion’s textured take on deep house sees its fullest expression yet. The album opens with recent single ‘How I Feel’, which sets the tone with a laidback house groove, mellow keys, and a soulful vocal sample. Lead single ‘Darling’ follows with dubby bass, intricate percussion and an irresistible central hook. Continuing the soothing vibes, ‘Now Is Gone’ is an insistent groove with woozy synths, while ‘After’ is a silky cut built for late night lounges. Everywhere you look on Weapons of Peace, licks of funk guitar brush up against strong bass lines and delicate pitched-up vocals. Highlights on the LP’s home stretch include the elastic synth-fuelled groove of ‘Na Base’, the warm emotion of ‘Thril’l’, before the sublime saxophone tones of closing track ‘Keys’.

Slow Motion’s first big break came in 2016 when he released a remix collaboration of ‘Drinkee’ by Sofi Tukker with Vintage Culture. In April 2020, his remix of Jorja Smith and Maverick Sabre’s hit ‘Slow Down’ was released and has currently amassed over 250+ million streams on Spotify and 100+ million views on YouTube. The remix also reached #1 on Beatport’s Deep House charts and was consistently charting on Spotify’s Global Viral 50. This track creates a perfect blend of his main influences and shows that he continues to innovate without losing his true roots.

2022 saw Slow Motion releasing an official remix for Mindchatter and creating Ref City Records, his own label that showcases his own original material and music from other rising Brazilian electronic artists, and in 2023, he also had his first U.S. headline tour.

Now with a finely crafted debut LP under his belt, Slow Motion is gaining momentum – and he will not be stopping any time soon.
