NEW SINGLE “SYSTEM” WITH VOCALS FROM EMPRESS OF OUT NOW ON NINJA TUNE

PERFORMING IN NY AT FOUR TET & FRIENDS FESTIVAL MAY 5TH

Vienna Austria by way of Manchester UK artist, salute, shares their first single of the new year “system” on Ninja Tune. The single was featured as Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record on Future Sounds / Radio 1. On this new offering, salute pays homage to the UK’s club culture with a feel-good track introduced by a classic fade-in and celebratory lyrics. The song comes alongside a visualizer and features subtle vocals from celebrated LA songstress Empress Of who also has co-writing credits on the track. A bonafide earworm, the single is the first taste of a full body of work showcasing salute fully stepping into the spotlight.

saltue shares about the song, “I think ‘system’ best describes where my head is at in terms of the sound I’m trying to get across. I’ve been obsessively re-diving into old French records and they’ve had a massive influence on how I produce my music – this one was particularly fun to make. I’m so in love with my pal Empress Of’s vocals on this tune, I’ve wanted to work with her for a number of years now and I’m so pleased we could make this work. As with most of the tunes I’ll be releasing this year, ‘system’ is a collaborative effort: had help from Karma Kid, Andy Smith and Baz Kaye (Bondax) on this one. They came through with the ingredients to tie ‘system’ together beautifully.”

Alongside the new single salute is also announcing the first leg of their world tour beginning in Brussels on February 23rd. The tour features stops through Manchester, Paris, Tokyo, and Barcelona as well as festival performances at Four Tet & Friends Festival in NY, Flash Festival in Tuscany and FLY festival in Edinburgh.

Last year salute released their latest EP Shield to praise from the likes of The FADER who described the music as “dreamy” and Clash who proclaimed the project as, “Surging with Spring-like energy. Shield followed earlier singles “Joy” and “Therapy” as well as co-signs from artists including Four Tet, DJ Seinfeld, Floating Points, Mall Grab, and more, which solidified them as a cult sensation and set the stage for a bigger album to come.

salute was first initiated into the UK club scene at 18 after moving to Brighton and then Manchester. There, they were given real exposure to club culture, which beforehand, had only been limited to videos on YouTube and Boiler Room. From here they refined their signature sound, pulling from their newfound understanding of genres like grime, garage, and dubstep.

Since the release of Shield salute has further built on their impressive live catalog, including Boiler Room Melbourne (which has reached over one million views on Youtube) and four sets at Glastonbury (a BBC R1 Essential Mix live with Annie Mac & The Blessed Madonna) The Levels in Silver Hayes (b2b DJ Boring) & Stonebridge (b2b Pretty Girl) & Greenpeace Field). They’ve also performed across Europe – including Parklife, Love Saves the Day, Gottwood (on the same stage as Sammy Virji), Montreux Jazz Festival, and Warehouse Project (b2b Yung Singh) – and made their debut in Asia to an incredible reception, selling out shows in Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo. salute also recently teamed up with Barry Can’t Swim for an impromptu pop-up show at Section 8 in Melbourne that raised money for Palestine Children’s Relief. The venue reached capacity and 700 fans gathered in the rain on the block outside. In addition to these live moments, salute received their first-ever nomination at the 2024 MOBO Awards for Best Electronic/Dance act.
