Pierced with a reminiscing sense of nostalgia, West-London’s rising singer-songwriter Yaz León shares her latest hypnotic memoir, “Mouthwash” ahead of the forthcoming ‘Bleach’ EP. Following up from the experimental spin, “AAA/Triple A”, Yaz León’s auspicious lyricism and genre-bending sound has resulted in a star in the making. Reputed for her soft sound, “Mouthwash” is a flush of vitality as the rising songstress heads into a new creative era.
Woven together with an acoustic-led production, “Mouthwash” feels like the summer you can vividly recall back in the 2010’s. Stood against an infectious percussive beat and paired with Yaz León’s distinctive vocals, “Mouthwash” is a preppy-esque glance into what the forthcoming EP is yet to uncover. Speaking on the meaning behind the track, Yaz León shared, “I swear Mouthwash was meant to be a pop song. It’s become a bit more of a mental breakdown in audio. I go on singing about weighing the good and painful bits of a relationship. So, lyrically it’s all over the place. Sometimes I’m taking the piss out of my astoundingly bad judgement and sometimes I’m trying to be a little kinder. There’s clearly a lack of closure so it’s hard to focus on one emotion. But I like that”
Set to feature on her forthcoming ‘Bleach’ EP, Yaz León is a rising artist that’s evolving with every release. Pushing her boundaries sonically, she bears a vulnerability that’s relatable to anyone. Hailing from West London, the Spanish-Iraqi, artist, producer and singer-songwriter enjoys mixing indie and soul elements to create emotionally dysfunctional music.
