Madrid’s Ralphie Choo releases his debut album SUPERNOVA via Rusia-IDK under exclusive license to Warner Records. On his first studio album, Ralphie cements his spot on the world stage through his dexterous production ability, ground-breaking lyrical composition and an intricate visual language all his own. Alongside the album’s release, Ralphie shares the ROY VICEROY-directed video to the album’s sixth track, “WHIPCREAM” featuring rap-duo Paris Texas, which further cracks open the portal to Ralphie’s irreverent, explosive and comical visual realm.

On SUPERNOVA, Ralphie Choo provides surprises around every corner. As an artist, Ralphie thrives on crossing wires between modernity and tradition to create music meant to challenge the conventions, and generations, that separate the sounds they love. Ralphie’s debut effort streaks across flamenco, contemporary pop, Latin trap, and the amalgamation of everything in between.

Along with impressive and genre-defying solo tracks on SUPERNOVA, the debut full length includes features from the likes of acclaimed British producer Mura Masa, New York City’s Wet, Spain’s Abhir Hathi, and the aforementioned Los Angeles duo Paris Texas along with fellow Rusia-IDK contemporaries DRUMMIE, rusowsky, and mori. Even as the Madrid-native simultaneously embraces and redefines monolithic notions of Spanish identity, Ralphie’s devotion to universal themes of love, heartbreak, and loneliness ground the project in honest reality. Additionally, Ralphie was included on an episode of NPR’s World Cafe series Sense of Place: Madrid, which highlighted Ralphie as a rising-Madrileño artist, where Ralphie performed select tracks from SUPERNOVA.

July 2020 saw the release of Ralphie Choo’s track “Dolores,” the gauzy house/jazz hybrid crafted with fellow Rusia-IDK collective member rusowsky that was the first banger from their fruitful, ongoing creative partnership. But Choo cites the December release of “Lamento de una supernova” as an even more significant turning point: It was his first time dipping into flamenco, as well as handing the mix and mastering reins to engineers who achieved a more polished and professional sound. In 2022, Ralphie’s track “BULERÍAS DE UN CABALLO MALO” was awarded Best New Track by Pitchfork, noting: “With each turn, Choo opens up the jagged depths below the music’s glimmering surface.” Earlier this year, he was featured on an episode of COLORS performing his song “Tangos de una moto trucada.”
