Fresh off of his performances at Primavera in Barcelona last month, Spain’s cloaked artist and producer nusar3000 releases his debut album 3000 via Rusia-IDK.
While the face behind the music is hidden, there’s a clear and defined expression of nusar’s identity as an artist in the music itself, which he first introduced with the high-octane brain-melter “NASKAR.” Over the course of the album, fuses the romanticism of Spain’s musical traditions of bulería and flamenco with a plethora of mediterranean sounds and brings them all into the future to create something wholly unique, serving as his central thesis that club music is the universal language of his generation.
Recorded in Morocco, the eight tracks of 3000 shapeshift through different club sounds heard across the Mediterranean and the lands it holds, mainly Morocco, Spain and the Balkan peninsula. Nusar’s debut album is a tribute to his roots with a reinterpretation all his own, and includes guests that embody 3000’s ethos: Israel Fernandez highlights the storied tradition of Flamenco in Spain on “ROSA DE JERICÓ,” and Argentinian artist Six Sex represents the shadowy club beats of South America on “MELAZA.”
Aligning himself alongside the RUSIA-IDK collective of Spanish musical innovators like Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, and TRISTÁN!, anonymity is at the forefront of nusar3000’s creative and musical direction, but that hasn’t stopped him from gaining traction across Europe. Nusar300 has popped up with DJ sets at the hottest clubs in Europe and prestigious music festivals like Sonar and Primavera Sound, as well as sound engineering for Louis Vuitton campaigns. His Jersey club remix of Grammy-award winner Rosalía’s “DESPECHA” was featured in her MOTOMAMI World Tour.
