METH MATH SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “TRENZAS” FEATURING DANIELA LALITA

DEBUT ALBUM CHUPETONES OUT NOW VIA IN REAL LIFE

HEADLINE U.S. TOUR KICKS OFF NEXT MONTH EUROPEAN TOUR KICKING OFF IN MAY

Ahead of their headline U.S. tour kicking off next month, CDMX and Hermosillo, Mexico-based trio Meth Math share the new video for their song “Trenzas” featuring Peruvian artist Daniela Lalita. The new video sees vocalist Ángel Ballesteros and Lalita in coinciding, otherworldly outfits bathed in flickering lights, holding white birds and riding dinosaurs at a street carnival in Lima, Peru. “Trenzas” appears on their debut album Chupetones, which is out everywhere now via In Real Life. Upon the album’s release last month, Ballesteros sat with Office Magazine to discuss the debut album, her inspirations, and the DIY scene in Hermosillo.

On April 2nd, Meth Math will begin their headline tour across the United States. The 7-date run will begin in Seattle with stops in Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago before wrapping up in Brooklyn on April 11th. On May 9th, Meth Math will be performing at the Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon, France before embarking on a full European tour with performances in the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Full tour routing and ticket details can be found below.

As part of International Women’s month, Meth Math is presently involved in Spotify’s EQUAL ad campaign throughout CDMX. Meth Math can be seen on billboards and LED screens throughout Roma and central city.

Chupetones also includes “Cyberia,” which appeared on Pitchfork’s Selects playlist and Rolling Stone’s Songs You Need to Know round up, along with “Mantis” and “Myspace,” which was highlighted as one of The FADER’s Songs You Need In Your Life. Additionally, Chupetones was co-produced by Nick León (Rosalia, Denzel Curry), and has features from Daniela Lalita (Mura Masa, Ashnikko), and ZAH. The album cements Meth Math’s lead amongst this boundless new generation of Latin artists and builds on the dichotomy the Mexican trio has always existed in: a gothic party that plays between neo-perreo and new-age emo. The nine songs that make up this debut album are at once odes to heartbreak and invitations to the deep darkness of a post-apocalyptic club.

Created with a freeform mentality that focused on capturing the essence of the moment rather than preconceived intention, the trio each brought quirky stories and new inspirations to the drawing board in recording sessions across Hermosillo and Mexico City. The result is a collective embodiment of the three of them and the raucous, dream-like party that only they could dream up with the help of the aforementioned collaborators.

Since the release of their Pompi EP in 2020 and m♡rtal EP in 2022, Meth Math has paved their own lane of shadowy and experimental reggaeton and electronica. Comprised of vocalist Ángel Ballesteros and the producers Error.Error and Bonsai Babies, Meth Math has established an aesthetic all their own and collaborated with electronic contemporaries like Sega Bodega, Machine Girl, Dinamarca, Blue Rojo and more. Last year, Meth Math performed at the iconic Boiler Room: New York City, which was curated by Shayne Oliver (Anonymous Club, Hood By Air), alongside Bladee, Ecco2k, and Baby Sosa, in addition to making their Mexican festival debut at Ceremonia.
