Nottingham artist JERUB continues his rise as one of the UK’s most promising pop talents with new single ‘What If’, out now via independent label Elevate Music alongside an official music video.

Delving into his fast-growing discography, it’s clear that sharing authentic stories that come from the heart is an area which motivates JERUB, and on ‘What If’ we find him digging deep once again. Serving as his second offering from a forthcoming EP set for release in April, ‘What If’ finds JERUB pondering his life decisions and reflecting on the future.

Driven by a luscious mid-tempo beat, the 25 year old singer songwriter fuses together his influences in pop and R&B for this latest outing which favours a hazy soundscape to compliment its thoughtful messaging and JERUB’s soft, warming vocals. It’s accompanied by an official music video shot in a soothing coastal location, and follows JERUB as he imagines life with and without his love interest as he looks out to sea in wonder.

Speaking of the inspiration behind the track, JERUB explains: “‘What if’ is a song about the doubts in your mind when it comes to taking that next step forward. It might be a job or relationship but big moments often have big doubts. For me, I feel like there’s always a voice in the back of my mind saying “what if this doesn’t work out? What if this goes wrong? What if I lose what I have?”. And even though I want to be brave it doesn’t mean the doubts and questions aren’t there.”

What If’ arrives after JERUB captivated audiences with his live performance on Children In Need back in November 2023, closing the show with his anthemic single ‘There Till The End’ which has now amassed over 3.3 million streams across platforms and counting, as well as being made BBC Introducing’s ‘Track Of The Week’. Standing out for his emotive style of pop, JERUB had a breakout moment in May 2023 when he performed at The King’s Coronation Concert alongside Vula and Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics orchestra, and went on to appear at UK festival’s The Great Escape, Latitude, Live at Leeds, Soho House Festival and Dot to Dot. A 30-date tour of UK and Europe followed as JERUB supported esteemed musician JP Cooper,
and with it his international fanbase grew exponentially.

With all the makings of a breakout star, it’s no surprise that JERUB’s received widespread press support from the likes of Wonderland, MTV and Notion, and appeared on many national TV programmes including BBC Morning Live, Laura Whitmore’s Breakfast Show, Sunday Brunch and Lorraine on ITV. Closing the year with a Soho House Future First show, a big sync on the hit christmas film ‘Your Christmas or Mine 2’ (also featuring Sam Ryder, Anne-Marie and more), an ITV1 Christmas eve performance alongside Cian Durcot & Ella Henderson, and featuring on Spotify Fresh Finds UK Class of 2023 round up, 2024 seems set to be another big year.

As JERUB continues to release a string of hit singles, this April he will release a new EP and has a six-date UK headline tour scheduled. An artist whose music has the ability to stop listeners in their tracks and provide real solace, JERUB starts 2024 on a high with ‘What If’ and reinforces his one to watch status.
