CORTNEY DIXON SHARES INDIE-POP ANTHEM ‘SUMMER LOVE’

I’m getting proper Strokes-y vibes on the guitars on that track. Obviously a future indie anthem and a half!“- Emily Pilbeam, Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music Mixtape

Cortney Dixon, artist, producer and guitarist from South Shields releases ‘Summer Love’ – a timeless indie-pop anthem. There are echoes of Fleetwood Mac meets Blossoms fronted by Kate Bush with dream-pop verses and hard-hitting singalong festival choruses. It’s fun-driven pop, elevated by Cortney’s indie-rock guitar tone.

Cortney says: “Run away and marry someone you just met, cos why the F*** not? Mad Summer romances are what make life worth living and we all know it! This song tells the story of the high, nostalgic buzz of falling in love on holiday, inspired by a trip she took to Austin, TX. “You are infatuated, obsessed and the sun has done something funny to your brain. Live your wildest, carefree summer yet in a sun-soaked love bubble before it bursts. This is the ultimate summer romance soundtrack.

Her 6th single follows previous editorial supported releases including Spotify’s New Music Friday UK, Europe, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam & Taiwan, Fresh Finds UK, That Indie Girl, Proper Belters, Apple’s New In Pop, Indie & Punk, Amazons Breakthrough UK + more. Cortney receives continued support from Gemma Bradley’s BBC Radio 1 Introducing show, Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music Mixtape and BBC Introducing in the NE.

Another crazy Cortney video follows shot on her hometown beach of South Shields. Produced as always by Cortney and her long-time visual collaborator and friend, Rob Irish. With little funds and boundless creativity, they deliver powerful DIY artwork and videography that rival high budget productions.

Cortney’s high energy 3-piece band support Johnny Marr in August and recently played #FendersUnplugged supporting Sam Fender’s homecoming Newcastle stadium shows at St James’ Park. She hit The Great Escape for the first time this year with two packed out shows followed by festivals throughout the Summer. Her Autumn shows start in September with Last Train Home Festival and a London showcase at Paper Dress Vintage.

Cortney has written for the likes of Elkie Brooks and Thai YouTube sensation Zom Marie. She’s collaborated with BRIT Award-winner Jack Garratt, producer Richard Craker (Liam Gallagher, Dagny, Jolin Tsai) and Warner Music Asia star Valentina Ploy amongst others. Writing sessions continue with both new and high-profile songwriters and her most recent sync placement was in the last ever episode of ‘Neighbours’.
