Unfiltered, unphased and undeniably a growing presence in the swirling pool of tenacious female talent, London’s black pop powerhouse DEJA released her first offering of the year, “ONE”, on April 5th 2023.

The single lands as a firm reminder of DEJA’s floor filling potential. Having already performed to audiences across the UK, sharing bills with Stormzy, Etta Bond, Emile Sandé, Ady Suelman and taking centre stage at Cambridge Pride last summer, “ONE” is already destined to ignite the festival season this 2023. Serving us DEJA’s signature sass, unapologetic lyricism and bouncy beats for breakfast, lunch and dinner, she has us eating out of her hands with an appetite for more.

Speaking on the track, she explains; “You put in the hours but it’s not long enough. You create opportunities but the doors keep slamming. You know what you’re capable of but they can’t see it. Sometimes it feels like the world is against you and sometimes it damn well is. ‘ONE’ is a reflection of the frustration we all suffer but the grit and the dominatrix attitude we have to adopt to get shit done.”

Potently carving her own unique space in the current soundscape with her afro-infused pop and undeniably filling a gap in the market for the next unapologetically bold, black pop powerhouse to emerge from the UK music scene.

An artist who immediately resonates, DEJA has been extensively championed across press, with compliments from Colors, Clash, Notion, Complex, DMY, Trench, Wonderland Magazine, Viper Magazine, Guap, Noctis Magazine – to name a fraction. With passionate support from BBC Introducing London and BBC Radio 1xtra, who made “Boom Boom Bah” their ‘Track of the Week’, it won’t be long now before we hear DEJA on national airwaves yet again.
