Continuing to push the momentum as we gear up for his forthcoming mixtape, London’s very own trailblazer Arz has enlisted fellow genre-bending newcomer Laicositna for his latest release, “Lickback”. Following in line from the May release “Hostage”, alongside “Long Time No See”, Arz’s seamless use of textured beats and heart-wrenching lyricism has pushed him to the forefront of Black British music.

Posing as one of the first artists to fuel the ever-growing lo-fi sound in the UK in recent times, Arz has become a blueprint for many aspiring rappers across the nation. Changing the direction of lyricism and vulnerability in rap, he’s grown a cult-like following that spans global reach. Staying true to his signature sound, Arz and Laicostina have curated a song that navigates the revenge behind modern-day dating. Calling on MADEINPARRIS and JD for production, Lickback” explores the negative tendencies surrounding gen-z and love.

With popular social media platforms pushing narratives and expectations in modern-day dating, the toxicity levels are slowly rising, “On this track me and bro touch on revenge. Everyone’s got this mindset of if I get done dirty I’m going to do it back. So we approached the song like we had just completed our Lickback”, Arz commented. Speaking on behalf of many in his age-group, “Lickback” showcases Arz’s honesty through personal experience.

Speaking on the track Arz commented, “I told her don’t, don’t cry.”

The 20-year-old quickly flew to fame  in 2021 with his break-out single “Alone With You”. In a time where the intricacies of love and relationships are held accountable online, Arz strips back the controversy and leads by good example for those who wish to embrace love for its flaws and all. Captivating the masses with his use of lo-fi beats and sample-woven production, he’s paved a lane of his own that sets him apart from the rest. Encouraged to pursue his passion for music at a youthful age, Arz began freestyling with his peers before making the decision to drop out of college in order to fulfill his life-long dream.

Housing previous accolades from Complex UK, Colors, Wonderland, GRM Daily, Mixtape Madness, Music Week, Clash Magazine, Acclaim, and the huge, continued supports of BBC Radio 1Xtra (DJ Target), Kiss Fresh (Ellie Prohan), Capital XTRA (DJ Semtex), who relentlessly endeavor to champion his unrivaled lyricism, Arz continues to cement himself as one of London’s hottest artists. Showing no signs of slowing down, Arz’s hunger to succeed speaks for itself as he continues to grow with each release. Teasing the release of his forthcoming mixtape, 2024 is set to be another monumental year for the trailblazer.
