ARIANA DEBOSE, BOY GEORGE & NILE RODGERS CREATE “ELECTRIC ENERGY” FOR THE NEW MATTHEW VAUGHN FILM SENSATION ARGYLLE

World-renowned artists Ariana DeBose, Boy George and Nile Rodgers have shared the intoxicating first single off the long-awaited Argylle film soundtrack. Out today via Platoon, “Electric Energy” is a funky, disco-soaked cut paired with an exuberant, color-drenched music video that spotlights the entirety of the Argylle’s all-star cast. The Matthew Vaughn film, from Apple Original Films in association with MARV, arrives in theaters February 2.

From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass), Argylle is a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller.

The Argylle soundtrack, featuring a score by Grammy winning composer Lorne Balfe, will be released on February 2, in conjunction with the film’s theatrical release. The Electric Energy” single, out now, delivers perfect insight into what will be one of the most cutting-edge films of the year. 

Accompanying the single is a spectacular official music video due to go live at 2pm UK time, filmed in the style and spirit of Argylle. Set in a lavish, art-deco-inspired room, the opening shot pays homage to the first Argylle novel written by film character Elly Conway, “read” by songwriter Boy George in a sparkly version of his staple top hat. Singer and film lead Ariana DeBose joins the celebration in a glamorous gown and featured artist Nile Rodgers appears playing the guitar. Throughout the music video, recognizable faces from the star-studded cast lip sync to the high-energy single, including Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston.

With an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress already under her belt, Ariana DeBose showcases her talent as a multi-faceted singer-songwriter and revered film star with the release of Electric Energy on January 26th. Additionally lending his expertise to Argylle’s soundtrack is celebrated English songwriter, actor, DJ, and lead singer of Culture Club – Boy George. Together, the two recently performed the high-energy single on The Jonathan Ross Show. With legendary instrumentalist and original David Bowie collaborator Nile Rodgers enlisted to produce the track, “Electric Energy” is destined to be a sure-fire hit from a film certain to be a cinematic sensation. 

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Accompanied by Aidan (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

The top-flight ensemble cast features Henry Cavill (The Witcher), John Cena (Fast X), Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Grammy winning pop superstar Dua Lipa (Barbie), Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Emmy winner and comedy icon Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. Alfie is played by Chip, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (née Schiffer).

Argylle, from Apple Original Films in association with MARV, is distributed in partnership with Universal Pictures. Argylle arrives in theaters February 2.
