Kacia is a testament to the new generation of rising creatives not afraid to defy conventionality and tease the boundaries of possibility.

A relatable title for many, a title made more relatable by the latest burgeoning talent to enter the scene. Kacia (aka Kieran Poling) released his very first, exciting single to spearhead his catalogue “Young Fun Dumb”, out now via Salthouse Records.

Meticulously interweaving a somewhat unusual combination of genres, classic pop and garage, “Young Fun Dumb” see’s Kacia confidently make the alliance not only universally palatable but enjoyably digestible. Sonically and sentimentally complimenting, the track unites playful production with a coming-of-age narrative that brings to life the nuances of self-discovery, new experiences and teenage romance.

In his own words, Kacia explains; “Writing “Young Fun Dumb” has been one of the most challenging songs both me and Matt (producer & co-writer) have written on the album. Initially I started sketching this song at 17, it gives an innocent reflection back to my teenage years, the soundtrack to my adventures, self-discovery, and ultimately my first proper relationship experience. Working on the track via Zoom Matt, I took influences from my love of garage music and blended it with my other love, classic pop, taking a classic pop piano with a garage style beat.

For me, the production highlight is the piano, it was somethingadded very late into the process – in a similar way to the piano in Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing.’ It feels like it belongs in a particular space. Out of all the songs we’ve written this is the song I don’t think I could write now, it belongs to a moment in time
.”

Pinpointing that moment in time for Kacia, the official music video for “Young Fun Dumb” guides us back to the pinnacle event of the teenage, transitioning years – prom. Steeped in relatability, from the embarrassing DJ to the love interest, the video is an endearing reminder of the delicacy of teenage innocence and the liberation of youthful naivety.

Speaking on the video, Kacia states; “When it came to thinking about the visual perspectives, my manager Jeff spoke to me about the idea of a night at the prom. This sparked my interest heavily and inspired me to base the video on ‘a night at the prom’ themed to the year 2018 (the year I left school). This release is the start of an exciting process where we’ll be following the album title “What if Life is Just a Movie” and having each video transitioning into the next one. Our aim is to create one long movie by the end of all our upcoming releases.”

Aligning with the video’s narrative, Kacia teamed up with young, local dance / acting students and emerging creatives from Havant and South Downs, to bring the vision to life. The result is an authentic re-imagination and rousing first scene to Kacia’s audio-visual story, to backdrop his effortlessly cool entrance into music.
