TEN TOTAL OUT MARCH 22ND VIA THREE SIX ZERO RECORDINGS

On Tour with Erick The Architect in March

1010benja announces his debut album Ten Total arriving March 22nd via Three Six Zero Recordings. The announcement arrives alongside a music video self-directed by 1010 for the latest album cut “Peacekeeper,” which follows the album’s first single “H2HAVEYOU.”

Ten Total is the long-awaited debut album from the Tulsa-born singer-songwriter and producer. 1010’s work revels in the unexpressed, oft-misunderstood nuances of Midwestern America: televangelism, megachurches, the isolation of individualism, desperation and loneliness, self-education, impassable gulfs of longing, belief in the impossible, the price of freedom, slow economies, and hidden histories.

On 1010’s latest single “Peacekeeper,” he employs a hasty Detroit street-rap flow while name-dropping Star Trek and the film work of Matthew Barney. This is one of many aspects of 1010’s character on display on Ten Total, which serves as a dynamic journey of 1010’s musical and personal identity, perfectly encapsulating his distinctive production style, vocal range, and overall journey toward self-realization.

1010 was born and raised in Tulsa, OK to a black father and white mother, both of whom were ministers and active congregation members of Pentecostal and C.O.G.I.C churches. Religion played a large part in his life as he spent 4-8 hours a day absorbing church sermons emotively paired with gospel music. This spurred his interest in the metaphysical, scriptures, and tradition, as he began to glimpse towards the unknown, later pointing him in the direction of gnostic work, contemporary art, and punk music that coated the cities of New York and Los Angeles.

Though the throws of economic insecurity plagued much of his adolescence and young adulthood, it only intensified his thirst for knowledge as he faced the constrictions of the real world. 1010 first arrived on the scene with the release of his single “Boofiness” in 2017, 1010benja immediately earned much curiosity and critical acclaim from Pitchfork, The New York Times, and Dazed among others. This was followed by the expansive 2018 single “Wind Up Space,” the six-track Two Houses project, the stripped-back singles “Dobby” and “Woodrow in 2020, and in 2021 he unveiled an EP titled Three Times, featuring the stand-out single “High.”

He is currently based in Kansas City, MO, where he writes and records his projects in relative solitude. This March 1010 will be supporting Erick The Architect during the first three shows of his North American tour.
