Swedish Grammy-nominated alt-R&B artist Venus Anon returns with her most defining release to date: “fooo00oool” — a bold, emotionally charged single that marks both a sonic and personal turning point. Out now on all platforms, it’s the first in a trilogy of singles paving the way for her highly anticipated debut album and a relocation to London.

Venus has already made a name for herself as one of Sweden’s most vital emerging voices, with praise from DAZED, COLORS, Notion, Viper Magazine, Ones To Watch, and The Needle Drop. Her unique, self-produced alt-R&B sound merges raw vulnerability with early-2000s textures and left-field pop flourishes – she’s a rare force, a female producer with full creative autonomy, unafraid to rewrite the rules on her own terms.

With fooo00oool, she opens a new chapter — bringing her queerness directly into her songwriting for the first time. Speaking on this herself, “It’s especially effective when you meet someone who is exactly on your frequency and wants to bomb the chamber of repression with you.”

Built on dual chord progressions (one sampled, one replayed), “fooo00oool” fuses warped synths, distorted textures, and early-Timbaland drums before plunging into a heavy, emotional 808 drop. It’s a song about queer longing and deep, resonant connection where shame dissolves in the presence of someone who fully sees you.

Venus Anon, real name Venus Rami, spent her early years on Sweden’s west coast, raised on a blend of Googoosh and Timbaland. As a teen in Stockholm, she immersed herself in the city’s underground queer scene, absorbing everything from smart pop to emotional indie and electronic dance. That kaleidoscope of influence now shapes the otherworldly sound she creates.

Her 2023 mixtape Nocturnal set the tone for her universe — a critically acclaimed release that led to performances at Way Out West, Power Pose Festival, and By:Larm. In 2024, she was nominated for a Swedish Grammy in the Soul/RnB category. Co-signs from Adidas and Dr. Martens, along with a recent collaboration with underground favorite DenzilHimself, signal a growing network of cultural and creative influence.

The release of “fooo00oool” kicks off a trilogy of singles, with follow-ups dropping in September and October, followed by a highly anticipated headline at The Waiting Room in London on 20 November, presented by Parallel Lines and Live Nation UK.

“This is for the femmes, mascs, enbies, and queers — the ones who already get it.”
