Debut EP ‘Is It Awryt’ Announced
Supporting Antony Szmierek and Melin Melyn
“Television is the drug—our escape from chaos into the mundane, blanking out the noise with screens that dull existence. For over 50 years, from black-and-white TVs to TikTok, we’ve stared into the void. Yet beneath this numbing glow lies a craving for life’s euphoric energy—if only we’d let it in.”
KuleeAngee, formed by Scottish friends Duncan Grant and Keshav Kanabar, blends guitar-driven melodies with acid house influences, aiming to get people moving in clubs and on festival stages.
Their first release of 2025, “Television“, launches on 16th January with a premiere from on BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show, including news of their debut EP ‘Is It Awryt’ due for release March 2025. Their first single ‘Animated Love’ received a groundswell of support from Sian Eleri on BBC Radio 1, Huw Stephens, Deb Grant, Craig Charles and Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6 Music, Radio X X-Posure Hot One from John Kennedy and Heavy support from Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio and Phoebe I-H and Stephanie Cheape on BBC Intro Scotland. Early DSP support with New In Alternative on Apple Music and Fresh Finds on Spotify, making it a late contender for one of 2024’s most exciting debut singles.
Hailing from different parts of Scotland—Duncan from suburban Edinburgh and Keshav from South Glasgow—the duo’s rich musical backgrounds and experience in various projects help shape their sound. They formed the band whilst waiting in the line at Dalston Superstore London, having met in the city on the circuit as session musicians.
The name KuleeAngee derives from ‘Kalyan Ji’ a distant relative in Kesh’s family from India. “Kalyan,” meaning “new dawn” in Sanskrit, reflects the duo’s ethos of breaking down barriers of language, race, and sexuality, and living fully in the present.
Already making a mark in the Glasgow music scene, KuleeAngee recently performed at the Tenement Trail in Barrowlands 2, for BBC Introducing and supported Porij at King Tut’s. They are gearing up for a live shows through Jan to March supporting Antony Szmierek and Melin Melyn.
