RUSOWSKY UNVEILS TITLE AND RELEASE DATE FOR HIS DEBUT ALBUM

Madrid-based multi-instrumentalist rusowsky reveals the title and release date for his highly anticipated debut album, DAISY, which will arrive on May 23rd via Rusia-IDK / Warner Records. DAISY was almost entirely produced and arranged by rusowsky, outside of orchestra string arrangements on two album tracks, further planting his flag as one of music’s distinctive new voices alongside his Rusia-IDK compatriots. The debut album from rusowsky brings like-minded creatives from around the globe into the Rusia-IDK ecosphere, including features from Ravyn Lenae, Kevin Abstract, Jean Dawson, La Zowi, Las Ketchup and Ralphie Choo.

rusowsky’s new single with Ralphie, “BBY ROMEO”, arrives today alongside a new video co-directed by ROY VICEROY and Fomotrauma. The new song marks the latest collaborative effort from the Spanish luminaries and frequent collaborators, who have created multiple fan-favorite songs together, including “GATA” and “Dolores.” DAISY will include the previously shared singles “ALTAGAMA” and “SOPHIA,” both of which arrived with videos directed by Fomotrauma.

Speaking about the process of creating “BBY ROMEO” with Ralphie, rusowsky shares, “Ralphie’s my best friend and honestly for me the best artist in Spain—this album wouldn’t make sense without him. It’s been kinda frustrating at times ’cause we’re both super picky, and before we got to ‘BBY ROMEO,’ we actually made like three different songs.

We wanted to bring back the raw, aggressive energy from old-school reggaeton, but make it cute, with a 2000s vibe. That’s why you’ve got those compressed guitars, the Y2K-style drums, but with a melodic vocal that reminds the gold era of reggaeton thereby creating that double nostalgic sound. It’s basically a mix of how US and Latin music hit us every summer—and how much fun our crew used to have back then.”

To celebrate the release of DAISY, rusowsky will perform a string of US shows this June, bringing his electric performance stateside for the first time. rusowsky is set to perform two dates in New York City at Elsewhere Zone One on June 6th, which is now sold out, and June 7th before hitting Chicago at Schubas on June 11th and wrapping up in Los Angeles at The Roxy on June 13th. Last year, rusowsky shared the collaborative singles “neo roneo” with Latin Mafia and “uwu^^” with BbTrickz, which Rolling Stone named one of the best Spanish-Language Songs of 2024, marking the first music released with Warner Records, who rusowsky signed with last year and partnered with his entire Rusia-IDK collective on a joint venture. Rusia-IDK also consists of avant-garde talents like Ralphie Choo (who closed the year collaborating with Rosalía on “Omega”), TRISTÁN!, drummie, and mori, who are all propelling music in the Spanish capital into exciting and unpredictable new places. Rusowsky will also embark on a series of live performances throughout the year, including a performance at Bahidora Festival in Mexico and more to be announced soon.

Born Ruslan Mediavilla, rusowsky took his stage name from a combination of his nickname, “rus,” and the character Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. Rusowsky is a prominent figure in Madrid’s genre-bending alternative music scene that has evolved from a local phenomenon into a sound resonating across the globe, recognized for his storytelling skills and production that plays with musical genres as if they’re childhood toys. Rusowsky began releasing music in 2019 and has since collaborated with a myriad of esteemed artists, including C. Tangana, Judeline, DELLAFUENTE, and fellow Rusia-IDK member Ralphie Choo. From electrifying performances at renowned festivals such as AXE Ceremonia, Sonar, and Lollapalooza South America to sold-out concerts across Mexico and Spain, rusowsky has established himself as a dynamic force in music.
