Last week, Queens of the Stone Age shared the special concert recording ‘Alive in the Catacombs’. Today, they announce the arrival of a limited vinyl edition and the digital release. The digital release of ‘Alive in the Catacombs’ is this Friday the 13th on all digital platforms via Matador Records/Beggars.
The AITC film and subsequent audio release are QOTSA stripped down to their most basic form — Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore, plus a string trio using chains and chopsticks as improvised percussion instruments. Completely unedited, each song was recorded live in a single take with no overdubs or edits. Audio was recorded by Mark Rankin, François-Xavier Delaby, Henri d’Armancourt, and Alban Lejeune, and produced by Mark Rankin. Final mixes were done by Mark Rankin, Joshua Homme, and Michael Shuman.

Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs, the film, was released on June 5. The film and accompanying behind-the-scenes documentary, “Alive in Paris and Before,” are available for purchase at qotsa.com.
Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs is produced by La Blogothèque and directed by Thomas Rames, and was filmed and shot in Paris, France in July 2024.
