An artist whose creativity has no bounds, House of EL has become a force to be reckoned with. Blending genres to create seamless sounds bursting with lyrical substance, the multi-disciplinary has shared his highly anticipated ‘When All Else Fails’ EP via independent label WUNDERKID. Constructing records for those who crave real art, the singer-songwriter continues to gift supporters with music that will stand the test of time.
Following a line of successful releases, House of EL has been gearing fans up for the release of ‘When All Else Fails’. Spread across 5 tracks, the singer-songwriter analyses modern-day tendencies within everyday relationships; whether it is your friend or someone you’re interested in romantically, the lack of emotional substance is becoming more apparent. Highlighting the idea of ‘truth vs deception’ in tracks like “Dirty Tricks” and “Say It Ain’t So”, House of EL wonders if we have “traded wonder for Wi-Fi” by becoming too accustomed to life so soft, we’ve dismissed the harsh realities of the world we live in. Featuring 2 unreleased tracks “Coda (Sunshine)”, an upbeat and summer-infused listen as well as “Mistakes?..”, a sombre spin that continues to boast his versatility, the ‘When All Else Fails’ EP is more than just a body of work, it’s a movement laced with societal depth.
When asked about the EP, House Of EL stated:
“When All Else Fails project looks at how numb we’ve become to each other. Songs like ‘Say It Ain’t So’, ‘Egyptian Cotton Sweats’, and ‘Dirty Tricks’ are about the way people ghost each other, how the news feels cold, and how rage gets more attention than honesty. I didn’t want it to feel too heavy, but I did want to say something about how much we’ve drifted from empathy and truth. I asked fans to send voice notes for the interludes because I wanted to bring in something real and show how it’s all about the people. And to me, where there are people, there’s still hope. That’s what GreenFields and Sunshine are about, finding light in all the noise.”
So far this year, House of EL has been met with major support across key tastemaker platforms. His recent singles have landed features in Notion, a live session on COLORS, multiple spins across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, and French national stations, as well as top playlist placements on Spotify UK’s New Music Friday, Just Dropped, and Free Form.
Far from seeking viral fame, House of EL continues to operate as a creative vessel, an evolving project led by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and producer Kieron McIntosh, whose credits stretch from Becky Hill & Chase & Status’s platinum hit “Disconnect” to work with Janelle Monáe, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Joey Bada$$, Paloma Faith, and more.
With jazz roots and a restless creative spirit, House of EL’s sound fuses elements of soul, indie, and cinematic electronica, drawing inspiration from Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Massive Attack, and Joy Division. All music is released via his independent label WUNDERKIND, where McIntosh leads as writer, producer, and creative director.
His music has soundtracked campaigns for Lancôme (with Zendaya at the Louvre), series like Hanna and The Equalizer, and games like NBA 2K, while live highlights include a London Jazz Festival headline and a standout tour with Reuben James. Now sharing his highly anticipated EP ‘When All Else Fails’, this isn’t the last you’ll hear of House of EL.
