Her new single, Communicate, drops May 22, marking the official beginning of this nex tera
After turning heads with her debut Golden Rose, a poetic EP exploring betrayal, self-acceptance and inner strength, Swedish artist Melina Do Rosario is back with brand new music. With a rawer sound, bold creative freedom and playful energy, she now enters a striking new chapter.
“Music has always been part of who I am,” says Melina, whose background spans dancing,”DJing, and working behind the scenes in the music industry. “But it wasn’t until I started creating on my own terms that everything fell into place. Music isn’t just what I do – it’s who I am.
Golden Rose EP, released in late 2024, was four years in the making, a sonic distillation of lived experience. The aftermath brought a period of reflection and reinvention. Letting go of constraints, Melina embraced a freer, more fearless artistic identity.
With Communicate, she steps forward with confidence. “I’ve stopped chasing perfection.Now, I trust my gut. This is the most honest version of me yet.”
Known for her striking visuals, genre-blending R&B style, and captivating stage presence, Melina has already carved out a space on Sweden’s music scene. She’s earned a nomination at the Manifest Awards for Best Soul/R&B, opened for acclaimed rapper Parham on his 2023 tour, and drawn attention from major outlets like BBC Radio, Swedish Television (SVT), and UK-based tastemaker like DJ Jyoty.
Live, she’s performed everywhere from underground R&B nights to boutique music festivals like Power Pose. As a DJ, she’s played iconic stages including Way Out Westand Lollapalooza, and spun sets internationally in both China and Kenya. Her collaborations include work with Grammy-winning duo Sammy & Johnny Bennett (Deki Alem) and Sweden’s celebrated music collective Tu5en.
So what’s next?
“More music. More live sets. More surprises,” Melina teases. “Right now, I’m in a creative bubble – but I always return to the stage. That’s where I belong. Expect the unexpected.”
