With more than 1 billion streams and over 6 million monthly listeners, rising singer/songwriter Matt Hansen returns with his new single and video “Compass,” the latest in his breakthrough streak of emotionally driven hits, including “Something to Remember” (300M streams), “LET EM GO” (300M), “yellowstone” (50M), and most recently “Don’t Look Back.”
About the new track, Matt explains,“I wrote Compass about the kind of love that keeps you centered – the person who pulls you back when you start to drift.”
“Compass” follows October’s release of “Don’t Look Back,” a soaring anthem that captures the electric rush of falling in love and the courage it takes to move forward. Rooted in his signature emotional songwriting, the track continued his unstoppable momentum as he kicked off his headline tour across Australia and New Zealand. These dates build on a longlist of touring achievements, including headline runs across Europe, the U.S., and Australia, as well as support slots for Teddy Swims, Lauv, Train, and Alec Benjamin.
The release of “Compass” caps a momentous year for the 25-year-old artist, who has built a global following through his powerhouse vocals, vulnerable storytelling, and deeply personal approach to songwriting. His stripped-down covers of classics like “Yellow” and “Iris” first resonated on TikTok—where he now has more than 3 million followers—before he broke out with original music that has since earned over 1 billion streams worldwide. Entirely independent, Matt continues to prove that authentic artistry can thrive far beyond traditional industry structures, connecting with fans across continents through genuine emotion and timeless songwriting.
Matt is currently putting the finishing touches on his highly anticipated debut album, with more details set to be announced in 2026.
