Vocal powerhouse maryjo returns today with the deeply moving new ballad, “Love A Good,” written by 6x GRAMMY® Award-nominee Julia Michaels and 4x GRAMMY® Award-nominee Jon Bellion, available everywhere now HERE.
“When I first heard this song, I instantly connected to it,” says maryjo. “Recording this ballad felt divinely timed with my life. I cried over the vulnerability and heart Julia Michaels and Jon Bellion poured into this – both are true inspirations to me. ‘Love A Good’ is an honest, raw, beautifully familiar story. It was healing. It was joy. It was me. I hope when you hear it, you feel even a fraction of what I felt. Because this one’s from the deepest part of my heart.”
“Love A Good” follows maryjo’s smash 2024 collaboration with chart-topping Australian producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist CYRIL, “Still Into You,” an emotive dance-pop cover of Paramore’s 2x RIAA Platinum-certified, top 10 favorite. The rendition currently boasts close to 80M worldwide streams via Spotify alone and is RIAA Gold-certified in Australia.
With close to 5M monthly listeners on Spotify – the highest of her career thus far – maryjo continues to rise thanks to a run of impassioned new tracks including the revealing “Whistleblower“ (which features a notable interpolation from Flo Rida’s 5x Platinum, #1 hit single, “Whistle”), “Nothing To Lose,” and “Should Be Us,” the latter accompanied by an official music video directed by Los Angeles-based filmmaker Nas Bogardo (Royal & the Serpent, Sueco) and streaming now at YouTube HERE. In addition, “Should Be Us” was joined by a special bonus version that sees maryjo teaming with singer/songwriter (and fellow former American Idol contestant) Michael Gerow, streaming HERE.
2024 also saw maryjo winning over fans with live performances alongside Alex Warren and Knox, as well as with her show-stopping festival debut at Milwaukee, WI’s famed Summerfest. Additional dates will be announced. For more information, please visit www.maryjo-official.com.
ABOUT maryjo:
maryjo has the kind of phenomenal vocal command made for heart-melting piano ballads, often drifting from full-throated belting to a gorgeously fragile delivery inflected with cracks. Though it took years for the artist to overcome her fear of singing in front of others, she worked through her shyness by sharing videos on social media and quickly earned a devoted fan following for her singular and evocative vocal power. The 24-year-old artist continued to capture attention as a fan-favorite contestant on Season 19 of the landmark singing competition series, American Idol, earning praise for her unique renditions of songs by Ed Sheeran, James Bay, Tate McRae, and Jewel, teaming with the latter for a memorable duet performance of the classic “Foolish Games.”
Among her fast-growing catalogue of fan favorites are such tracks as “I Woke Up,” joined by an official live performance video filmed earlier this year on Knox’s “I’m So Good At Being Alone Tour,” streaming now HERE. Other recent highlights include “Drunk Tattoo,” “Don’t Call Me,” the compelling “Traffic,” and “Cleveland,” the latter celebrating the Cleveland, OH-based artist’s hometown with an official music video showcasing her high school and other meaningful locations, plus fashion from several Cleveland-based vendors.
Now, with “Love A Good” – and more new music on the way – maryjo remains steadfast in her goals, relating breathtaking emotion and musical artistry by simply staying true to her instincts.
“With every song I sing, I try to think about every single angle that people could hear it from and all the ways they could possibly connect to it,” says maryjo. “I’m already getting my therapy from the whole process of writing and recording, so I want to make sure that I’m giving people something that helps them tap into their own emotions and makes them feel better about whatever they’re going through.”
