French producer and global dance figure Kungs returns with ‘Galaxy’, a bold new collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist Theophilus London, out 9th January.
Known for his radiant energy and instinctive feel for electro-pop anthems, Kungs returns pushing his sound into new territory on ‘GALAXY’. The track sees Kungs’ signature sunny production collide with Theophilus London’s eclectic Brooklyn spirit, in a fluid electronic cut that balances groove-led dancefloor momentum with a soulful, off-kilter edge. This latest release continues underscoring Kungs’ growing ability to explore new horizons, and ability to expand his sound with every new chapter.
The collaboration has been years in the making. Kungs and Theophilus London first connected during the COVID era, attempting to work together remotely before shelving their project for when the world reopened. Recently reunited in person, the two finally brought ‘GALAXY’ to life, capturing the creative chemistry of longtime friends reconnecting in the studio.
Kungs first rose to global prominence with his 2016 debut album Layers and the worldwide hit ‘This Girl’, which has now surpassed over a 1 billion streams, and quickly establishing him as one of France’s most successful electronic exports. Since then he’s continued to build his global profile with 2021’s ‘Never Going Home’, the post-lockdown summer anthem that achieved Diamond certification in France and multi-platinum success across Europe. With billions of streams worldwide, headline shows and major festival appearances including Tomorrowland, Ultra and Coachella, as well as collaborations spanning pop, disco and underground dance music, Kungs continues to refine and redefine his sound with each release.
Joining him on ‘GALAXY’ is Theophilus London, the Trinidadian-American rapper, singer and producer known for his genre-blurring blend of hip-hop, soul, pop and electronic music. Raised in Brooklyn and connected to his Caribbean roots, London is recognised for projects such as Bebey, collaborations including work with Kanye West on ‘All Day’ and the Donda projects, and his influence beyond music through fashion collaborations with figures such as Virgil Abloh.
‘GALAXY’ arrives following the tracklist announcement of Kungs’ forthcoming album ‘OUT LOUD’, due out on 13th March, a project that showcases his most expansive creative vision to date. The album features an impressive roster of collaborators, embracing a broader, more adventurous sonic palette.
