A futuristic fangirl fantasia, ‘POV’ blends raw emotion with club-fuelled euphoria, where R&B vulnerability meets the hyper-gloss of K-pop and the late-night energy of the rave
Cydnee with a C emerges from the neon haze with her astonishing POV EP, out April 25th via TH3RD BRAIN. Like a giant Blade Runner hologram, the Atlanta-raised singer-songwriter fuses R&B nostalgia with the frenetic energy of drum ‘n’ bass, jersey club, and footwork, resulting in a sound that’s thematically emotional and sonically future-facing, intriguingly adopting the sensibilities of K-pop.
“’POV’ is the point of view of a fangirl who loves feel-good music,” explains Cydnee, “which is why I love K-pop. I love how K-pop takes real emotions, concepts, and situations and makes them fun and uplifting.“
Boldly blending elements of R&B, liquid drum’n’bass, footwork and jersey club, the POV EP—fronted by rich, hyper-futuristic artwork—explores a different emotional lens in each track, whether that’s loneliness, forgiveness, heartbreak or toxic situations, always grounded in vulnerability but reframed with energy, bounce, and euphoria. Led by the previously released singles ‘At Night’, ‘Spend It’ and ‘Love You Down’, POV offers snapshots of lived emotion through the glossy, surreal filter of a future-facing romantic.
Described as “a ‘no-more-Mr.-Nice-Guy’ song”, new track ‘Bad Guys’ adopts the perspective of someone “whose heartbreak turned them sour. It could also be the POV of someone who was bullied. How come they all get to point and laugh and have fun?”
Then there’s ‘Forgiveness’, which puts the listener in the shoes of “someone who’s having a hard time forgiving and why. It’s an honest song about how sometimes our selfishness gets in the way of forgiveness and moving on.” Similarly, ‘Tweaking Out’ is about the struggles of being in a toxic relationship and not realising it because it feels so good. “Love-is-a-drug vibes,” as Cydnee puts it.
Cydnee With a C is an Atlanta-raised, LA-based singer-songwriter redefining the intersection of alt-pop, R&B, and liquid drum and bass. With her signature blend of glitched-out, sugar-sweet vocals and hypnotic bass-driven production, she has carved out a unique space in the dance-pop world—one deeply influenced by her love for K-pop and her background in R&B and rap.
Her debut project, released in 2023 and titled Confessions of a Fangirl, in what SNIFFERS described at the time as her “most vibrant and magnetic form,” was a passionate ode to fandom culture that amassed over 3 million streams, earning praise from Paper, Nylon, and Bandcamp. As a self-proclaimed “fangirl,” Cydnee has fostered a dedicated community through her YouTube presence, connecting with fellow K-pop enthusiasts and translating that inspiration into her unique sound.
The fresh-sounding, genre-blurring POV EP from tantalising Atlanta talent Cydnee with a C, drops on Friday, April 25th via TH3RD BRAIN Records.
