Justine Skye is stepping into a new era with the release of “Oh Lala”—her first official dance single and Warner Records debut, out now. First teased in Nike’s new Air Max DN8 campaign starring Skye this Thursday, “Oh Lala” is a euphoric ode to sweaty dancefloor revelry; a sensual, sparkling escape into rhythm, release, and self-liberation produced by none other than “dance music’s low-key legend” KAYTRANADA.

In addition to producing the song, KAYTRANADA stars alongside Skye in the video, continuing the undeniable chemistry that they have both on record and in real life, the latter of which has been evidenced when the pair have previewed the song across multiple KAYTRANADA performances over the past few months.

Blending the spirit of Grace Jones with the shimmer of Donna Summer, “Oh Lala” radiates rave energy and channels the freedom of being young, wild, and unapologetically present. Built on pulsating house grooves, ethereal synths, and Justine’s signature sultry vocals, the track captures that specific magic of locking eyes across the dance floor and living like the night never ends. “Say goodbye and kiss both cheeks, end it with a hug — but then we drag each other right back to where we was.” It’s carefree, but not careless. Sexy, but grounded. This is Justine Skye—grown, glowing, and fully in her joy.

“‘Oh Lala’ is the first single of a new beginning for me, a world where tempo and dance are the leading force. It’s about chasing happiness through movement,” says Skye. “After going through so much emotionally, I hit a point where I just wanted to feel good again. For me, that happened on the dance floor, being carefree with like-minded people—whether in Brooklyn, L.A., or Ibiza. I wanted to make music that matched that energy. Something sexy, something free, something that lets you forget everything but the moment you’re in.”

The “Oh Lala” video brings that vision to life with editorial edge and nightlife fantasy. It takes place in the beloved, yet now closed, Brooklyn nightclub, Paragon, with visuals that capture Justine in her element—radiant, carefree, and magnetic. She moves through the night, locking eyes and sharing “ooh la la” moments with a love interest as flashing lights and euphoric tension pulse around her. KAYTRANADA appears behind the decks, curating the vibe with a sense of effortless cool as voguing, freedom, and expression fill the room. It’s a perfect night out—unfiltered and unforgettable.

This release marks a new sonic lane for the Brooklyn-born artist best known for her effortless blend of pop, R&B, and Afro-Caribbean influences. Her 2023 Dark Side compilation showed depth and emotional range, while earlier projects like Space and Time (2021) built her global fanbase.

Fueled by the viral resurgence of her 2014 hit “Collide” featuring Tyga, and a renewed sense of personal sovereignty, Skye is ready to move—and make you move with her. “Oh Lala” is just the first taste of what’s to come, with more music and moments planned for summer and beyond. Next stop? Ibiza.

About Justine Skye:
You know of Justine Skye. If she wasn’t a fixture on your moodboard as you perused Tumblr in its heyday, you’ve seen her as Annika Longstreet on Grown-ish; you’ve heard her single “Collide” remixed across your short-form video platform of choice. Her R&B oeuvre has likely provided tender ambience in your most vulnerable periods of heartbreak. Certainly, you’ve known of her, but Justine Skye is no longer invested in public perception. Now, Justine Skye blisters with energy, ready to indulge—and to let others revel—in the fact that she finally knows herself.

Skye’s newest music signals an ecstatic, distinctly physical pivot towards artistic liberation by way of the dance floor. Skye evokes the kinesis of movement as if by muscle memory: sticky skin; heat lightning on a humid summer’s eve; languorous hours spent under relentless Mediterranean sun; cheeks that ache from laughter.

This uptempo, house-driven era is a glimmering nod to the long history of Black dance music—and years in the making for Skye. After signing a record deal in her adolescence, terminating it in favor of going independent, and eventually joining a new creative team spearheaded by Jahleel Weaver, she arrives at a personal and artistic crux. What emerges is the sonic approximation of a thrumming, glistening heartbeat: frenetic, proud, strong, and devilishly danceable.

Above all, Justine is having fun. She knows intimately the feeling of bodily catharsis by the hand of a great DJ. Justine poses a challenge to her listeners: Come with me and dance. I know you feel it too.
