LANDING WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEBUT ALBUM “FORCEFED SERENITY”
Norwegian indie artist Fig Tape returns with “Run It”—the fourth single from his highly anticipated debut album Forcefed Serenity, due October 24th. Following the urgent and affecting previous release “Miracle”, which earned support from WONDERLAND, NOTION, and editorial placements across Spotify’s Fresh Finds Nordics and New Music Friday in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, Fig Tape continues to build momentum as one of the most compelling voices in Norway’s next wave.
“Run It” sees Fig Tape fusing elements of lo-fi indie rock, punk urgency, and experimental electronica, layering washed-out guitars, grainy synths, and distorted falsetto vocals to create a cathartic and otherworldly soundscape. With a sonic palette reminiscent of early Wavves or DIIV, but filtered through the introspective lens of Scandinavian alt-pop, the single marks a bold step in Fig Tape’s evolution as one of Norway’s most innovative and genre-defying new voices.
The track draws on themes of nostalgia and existential drift, capturing the internal conflict of someone questioning their identity in the context of modern relationships. Lyrically, it balances poetic reflection with anthemic honesty. “The falsetto refrain became a sort of emotional anchor for me,” Fig Tape shares.
“It’s a plea to stay grounded—to not lose yourself when everything around you feels unsteady.”
Built around a session last fall with a close collaborator, “Run It” began as a spontaneous jam referencing the indie heroes of Fig Tape’s youth—The Wombats, Two Door Cinema Club, and Bloc Party. “He started playing this riff and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s the song right there.’” Though initially unplanned for live performance, the track found its way into Fig Tape’s Eurosonic 2025 set after a last-minute rehearsal decision.
“We premiered it in Groningen and the crowd’s reaction completely caught me off guard, in the best way. That moment made it feel real.”
Fig Tape has been undeniably carving out his place in the European music scene with a sound that fuses bedroom pop intimacy with club-ready electronics. Most recent Expectations EP drew strong support from Spotify editorial playlists including Oyster, Fresh Finds, and Metropolis, and received widespread praise across Norwegian radio, including consistent airplay on NRK P3 since October 2023. His music has also been featured in Netflix’s breakout series Young Royals, further amplifying his fiercely growing international profile.
Live, Fig Tape has made waves with standout performances at Eurosonic Festival and SOHO Calling, as well as tour support for Norwegian pop star Sigrid. Taking his genre-blurring DJ sets and immersive live shows across Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and the Netherlands, including a memorable night at Berlin’s legendary Ritter Butzke.
In 2024, Fig Tape was named a finalist in NRK P3’s prestigious “Urørt” competition, highlighting him as one of Norway’s most promising new artists, catching the attention of tastemakers like Zane Lowe, who recently spotlighted his work on Apple Music Radio.
A boundary-pushing producer as well as a vocalist, Fig Tape has collaborated with a growing roster of acclaimed artists, including Korean group ”ILLIT”, GoldLink, KiLLOWEN, BAUGRUPPE90, and Britney Manson.
With “Run It”, Fig Tape cements his position at the intersection of experimental pop and indie grit—offering another glimpse into the emotional depth and sonic ambition of Forcefed Serenity.
