julie have unveiled the official music video for “feminine adornments,” one of the many highlights of their critically acclaimed debut album, my anti-aircraft friend, available now via Atlantic Records. The provocative visual – which is once again shot and directed by the Los Angeles, CA-based band and art collective – is streaming now at YouTube.
Hailed by Pitchfork for creating “fresh, compelling alt-rock epics rendered in miniature,” julie will spend their summer celebrating my anti-aircraft friend with a wide-ranging series of international live dates that features headline shows, top-billed festival performances, and a support run as special guests on The Marías’ hugely successful and sold out “Submarine Tour (Extended).” Highlights include appearances at such world famous gatherings as Barcelona, Spain’s sold-out Primavera Sound (June 5), Chicago, IL’s Lollapalooza (July 31), and San Francisco, CA’s Outside Lands (August 8-10) along with two-night stands with The Marías at McAllen, TX’s McAllen Convention Center (July 10-11), Berkeley, CA’s The Greek Theatre (July 20-21), and Vancouver, BC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre (July 25-26). julie have quickly become a sensation for their distinctive take on alternative rock, working within their own singular musical sensibilities to warp conventions and turn tropes on their head. The trio – comprised of Alexandria Elizabeth (vocals, bass), Keyan Pourzand (vocals, guitar), and Dillon Lee (drums) – came together via DM in 2019 and immediately exploded onto the noise pop scene with the following year’s debut single, “flutter,” earning them worldwide attention and over 50M worldwide streams thus far.
With each member of the band a multidisciplinary artist, julie pay meticulous attention to every element of their releases, from what instruments they play onstage all the way down to the art, packaging, flyers, merch, and social media. 2021 saw the release of the pushing daisies EP, followed in 2022 by the double single, “pg.4 picture of three hedges” b/w “through your window.”
my anti-aircraft friend landed in 2024 and instantly catapulted julie to the forefront of contemporary indie rock thanks to such standout tracks as “very little effort,” “catalogue,” “clairbourne practice,” the latter joined by an official music video – directed by julie and Lizzie Klein – streaming now at YouTube. The album proved among the year’s most highly lauded debuts, drawing ecstatic applause from such high-profile publications as Pitchfork, NME, The FADER, Stereogum, Office, The Guardian, Teen Vogue, and more.
Along with their uncompromising music and highly refined visual aesthetics, julie have further staked a claim as a transcendent and devastatingly powerful live act with sold-out headline tours in North America and the UK, show-stealing festival sets at Coachella and Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, and dates alongside Alex G, Faye Webster, and Foo Fighters.
