In her most candid track to date, Ananya delivers pure nostalgia vibes in this euphoric and haunting Indie-Pop gem
Hotly tipped pop artist and storyteller Ananya returns with a heart aching story of young love and loss, lingering memories, and fleeting euphoria that lasts long after it’s over.
In her new single ‘Man Ray’, the Zimbabwean artist now based in London, brings to life vivid snapshots of past connections, intimacy and longing, honouring love that was imperfect but unforgettable.
Following her previous single ‘Falling’ (which garnered support from Earmilk, Ones To Watch and CLOUT) ‘Man Ray’ represents a more confident artist, pushing the envelope of her sound, as atmospheric synths and delicate instrumentation are punctured by bold beats, expressive vocals and cinematic storytelling to create a reflective, almost otherworldly track.
“Man Ray is about remembering the little details…” Ananya says. “The highs and the lows, the fleeting magic you can’t quite hold onto. It’s about love that was imperfect but real, and the way certain connections keep pulling at you, even when you’ve walked away. It’s about nostalgia, longing, and the quiet energy that memories carry.. the way joy and heartbreak can live side by side, and how some love leaves a mark you can’t forget.”
“I think I’ve always had things I wanted to say but never quite found the right words, or the right way to say them. Writing Man Ray felt really special because it was almost like finally sharing a confession that had been too long overdue.”
Born and raised in Zimbabwe and now based in London, multifaceted musician Ananya channels vulnerability, strength, and self-worth into genre-blurring pop. Heralded by GLAMOUR as an artist to watch, her debut 2023 EP i woke up one night has amassed over 1M streams, with standout tracks like ‘i feel so new’ and ‘gone (forever)’ earning praise from GQ South Africa, MTV, Wonderland, BBC, and iHeartRadio.
Following a string of stand-alone singles including ‘Emotions’ and ‘All That Glitters Isn’t Gold’ and ‘Falling’, Ananya continues to tease what’s to come on her anticipated 2026 EP.
