Heralded by GLAMOUR and GQ as an artist to watch, rising pop name Ananya releases her latest track ‘Falling’, an emotionally charged yet upbeat single, out today. It pairs sleek, danceable pop production with raw, introspective lyrics — a hallmark of Ananya’s evolving sound.
‘Falling‘ is about the tension of catching feelings at the wrong time, when desire meets hesitation, and vulnerability clashes with logic. “It’s about timing, restraint, and the quiet ache that comes with unspoken feelings,” says the African artist. “It’s for anyone who’s ever felt too much and said too little. I hope it feels like dancing through your own emotional chaos.”
Known for her emotive songwriting and genre-blending style, Ananya pushes her sound further on ‘Falling’, infusing pop with subtle groove and a thread of hopeful melancholy. It was first performed during a Glamour Magazine South Africa livestream in the heart of the pandemic — a moment that turned out to be unexpectedly resonant. “I had no idea how many people would connect with it,” she says. “The biggest challenge was keeping that rawness in the final version.”
Born and raised in Zimbabwe and now based in London, multifaceted musician Ananya channels vulnerability, strength, and self-worth into genre-blurring pop. Her debut 2023 EP i woke up one night has amassed over 1M streams, with standout tracks like ‘i feel so new’ and ‘gone (forever)’ earning praise from GQ South Africa, MTV, Wonderland, BBC, and iHeartRadio.
