Following his recent performance at SXSW for Clash Magazine’s stage at The Village Underground [800 capacity] as well as further shows in Japan, Nino Uptown heads overseas to Tokyo for his latest unmissable release, “Need For Speed”. An enigmatic figure within the UK’s rap space, over the years Nino Uptown has built a cult-like following sharing stages with UK hit-makers including M Huncho, Nafe Smallz, and WeWantWraiths since 2020.

Housing previous support from Complex UK, Hypebeast UK, Clash Magazine, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 1, Apple Music [Charlie Sloth], and more, as well as brand collaborations with Nocta, BBC/Ice Cream, New Era, Avirex, Timberland, and Wingstop to name a few, Nino Uptown is continuously proving himself as a force to be reckoned with.

An artist who’s known for going against the grain, “Need For Speed” places a lens on his restless self-reflection and survival. Reputed for his authenticity and razor-sharp lyricism, Nino Uptown paints a picture of solitude, pressure, and persistence; keeping his circle tight and grappling with inner battles. A therapeutic vice for many of his fans, Nino’s ability to instantly command your attention hasn’t gone unknown. Delicately crafting songs that reflect his growth both artistically and personally with an honest and candid approach, “Need For Speed” showcases just that. Underlined with a slick production courtesy of GRN, Eight8 and KHVN, the London native headed to Tokyo, Japan for the accompanying music video shot in just 3 days with director and editor Harry Tatem. One of few artists in the UK’s rap space who pushes the boundaries visually with each release, Nino shares a cinematic masterpiece that captures Tokyo’s inner-city life. With more music on the way, this isn’t the last you’ll hear of Nino Uptown this year!

Taking his vision overseas into international territory, Nino Uptown stated, “I wanted to do something different for this song. Every UK artist has done every imaginable aesthetic for a video shot in London, so when we had the chance to go Tokyo for a few shows we brought along our Director Harry Tatem and made the most of it for Need For Speed.”
